Collared
Lizard on the trail to Pueblo Alto in Chaco Culture National
Historic Park.
Hiking
in the more remote parts of Chaco Canyon requires being
on your toes - not only to avoid damaging any archeological
finds, but to steer clear of rattlesnakes and lizards.
Except the chance of stepping on a lizard would be small,
considering how quickly they moved! This one was displaying
a head-bobbing threat, warning me to steer clear. I did.
