Life is
tough in a dry canyon. Many of the plants and animals
that call Colorado National Monument home, live short,
rugged lives. The canyon weather alternates between biting
cold and withering heat. The indigenous inhabitants have
developed a variety of mechanisms that allow them to survive
in a land of extremes.
