Sand Dunes National Park, Colorado.
The sand
dunes of San Luis Valley are 440,000 years old, and formed
when an ancient lake dried up, leaving sand deposits that
blew into these dunes. The other sources of sand are from
the tributaries of the Rio Grande River that cut through
and erode the local mountains.
