Elk
browsing in Chaco Canyon
One
morning at daybreak in Chaco Canyon, I awoke to the sound
of what I thought was a car horn, only to find out it
was a bugling elk nearby, echoing off the canyon walls.
The days
are often clear, and the nights are inky black with stars
strewn across the dome of the sky. Chaco Canyon is a World
Heritage Site, and located in a remote part of New Mexico,
with very little light pollution. The night sky is often
clear and sprayed with stars, against an inky black background.
The daytime sky is vivid blue on clear days, and filled
with dramatic towering clouds on others.
