Weatherill was the discoverer of Mesa Verde, and the excavator
of Pueblo Bonito. He later ran a trading post in Chaco
Canyon, and his wish to be buried there was granted, after
he was murdered. Every online reference I found to Richard
Wetherill has his name spelled with an "i" leading
me to think that it was misspelled on his headstone.
