Ruins of the great kiva at Chetro Ketl in Chaco Canyon
The
great kiva at Chetro Ketl shows some of the structural
features that played a role in the ceremonies they conducted
a thousand years ago. The entire round structure was once
covered by large timbers, and an adobe roof. Judging by
the sheer number of kivas throughout the Four Corners
area, the Ancestral Peubloan were a very spiritual people.
