View from Anderson Butte, Washington Cascades

The mountains surrounding Baker Lake in the Washington Cascades are steep and heavily forested with large stands of old growth timber. During huckleberry season a backcountry hiker is likely to see numbers of black bears. While backpacking for a couple days in this area, we counted a dozen large bears, gorging on plump berries.
